French Goverment honour for UL and MU academics

University staff at UL and MU have been honoured by the French Government for outstanding contributions to enriching the French language and culture in Ireland.  Dr. Gordon Armstrong (University of Limerick) and Prof. John Ringwood (Maynooth University) were awarded the L’Ordre des Palmes Académiques at an event in the French Embassy in Dublin.

Dr. Armstrong works in the field of material sciences and has successfully established a double degree and a co-tutelle with the University of Limoges.  Professor Ringwood’s research focuses on the development and application of modelling and control systems techniques and has published over 250 articles in international scientific journals.  He has had a particularly close working relationships with researchers from France over a long period.
